Vuélvete Local was born from walks with my mother through the neighborhood shops. She always showed me, through her actions more than words, the importance of supporting local businesses and caring for those who make our community thrive.
These lessons stayed with me and today are at the heart of Vuélvete Local.
When I moved to Barcelona, between studies and work, it was hard to maintain my consumption habits and support local businesses. Without time to explore my neighborhood, I ended up relying on large platforms.
That’s when the idea of Vuélvete Local arose: to create a tool that brought people closer to the businesses in their area, easily and accessibly.
My project started taking shape thanks to the support of organizations that believed in me: Barcelona Activa, where I could turn my idea into concrete actions, and LGBT+ Tech Barcelona and Inspiring Girls, which gave me a voice and the chance to share my story with large audiences.
These experiences allowed me to launch the pilot version and connect with the first businesses and customers.
After the first successes, disappointments also came: denied grants, collaborations that didn’t materialize, and limited resources.
I had to restart the project on my own, just when it seemed we were gaining momentum. It was an unexpected setback that forced me to adjust the course and keep going.
After difficult months, Vuélvete Local was selected as the winner of an entrepreneurship contest among over 50 projects.
Shortly after, we received grants that allowed us to strengthen the team. Seeing our idea supported filled us with excitement and energy to continue forward.
This journey has had ups and downs, and the important thing is to never lose sight of why we started.
Excited for what’s coming, we know it won’t be easy, but we are ready for this adventure.
